FEMI AND THE FOUNDATION
Imagine this: The Roots meet the Red Hot Chili Peppers, then rock out even harder. Meet Femi and the Foundation. Balancing powerful and raw sound with fearless experimentation, they seamlessly create a captivating blend of funk, rock, hip-hop, and r&b that inspires audiences of many ages and musical interests.
Based in Washington, DC, they have quickly established themselves as a headlining act and as broad-reaching collaborators, drawing large crowds at some of DC, MD, and VA's most iconic regional venues (Songbyrd, Pearl Street Warehouse) and community music festivals (Fridays at the Fountain, AdMo/Petworth Porchfest). Their debut album “Wrong Side of the Sun” was released in August 2025.
As of February 2026, Femi and the Foundation is back in the recording studio and preparing for an exciting summer calendar including several out-of-state shows and festival appearances. They have also been named finalists for four DC Wammie Music Awards to be announced in March, including Best Rock Artist, Best Rock Album, Best Blues Song, and Best Funk Song.
